Fly UK Virtual Airways is proud to present its newest events tour - Northern Skies. This tour will encompass most of Northern Europe, visiting thirteen airports in eight different countries over the course of five months. With the schedule offering up to three events per month, the aim of this tour is to strengthen its rapidly growing VATSIM community and build new friendships with new pilots.

"Those who remember back to past years will recall how we only had one event per month, attended usually by one pilot, who was usually a member of staff. Then came Europa, our first VATSIM tour which did wonders, transforming our programme into a busy three per month, currently having an average attendance rate of 3.5 pilots. We aim to push that average up just a little higher with this tour, setting new records, making new friends, sharing our love of flying with everyone in our 200-strong pilot community."

The official version of the tour as of current is published below:

Hello everyone,

Just a short update on this seeing as it is fast approaching. We have 9 pilots confirmed attending at Fly UK Virtual Airways and expect a few more to put their names down over the next few days. There are also some Irish pilots expected from our promotions at VATeir, plus a few from the around the world courtesy of our our vatsim.net homepage, forums and Vroute promotions. All up, expect one really busy VA event this Sunday!

Any pilots who think they're going to be flying, please post below so we can get a general idea of how busy things are going to be.

Any controllers at Northern RTS, SCONI RTS and EGTT RTS please have a glance at the controller bookings calendar and make a booking if you are controlling on the day.

A quick reminder of the flight details:

Route - POL N601 MARGO | Distance - 164 nm | Flight Level - FL220 | Est. Duration - 45 mins (plus ~15-20 mins on ground)

Remember when you log in, if there is already an aircraft on that stand, please change to another stand to avoid hassle on the ground.

On behalf of Fly UK Virtual Airways we wish you all a pleasant event and hope this will bring up regular traffic levels around the two participating airports.

See you at 09:30z (or thereabouts) this Sunday!

Last update before the day:

Expected numbers are as follows:

Fly UK Virtual Airways > 13-17 pilots
VATeir > 2-4 pilots
VATSIM-UK > 4-8 pilots
vatsim.net and Vroute promotions > 2-4 pilots
Total > 21 - 33 pilots

There will be a nice traffic pattern happening between Northern England and Scotland tomorrow  If you're around in the morning and not controlling, then why not fly and make it even busier!

Happy flight!

Just landed myself. WOW what an event; best turnout ever from Fly UK! A million thanks to controllers manning the skies, particularly the fellow on Manchester Ground; there was a big pileup and you handled it perfectly. Loads of happy pilots echoing my comments here, we have a few who are first-timers on VATSIM and they're definitely coming back for more.

Our next event is on a Friday evening (which should bring traffic to an even crazier level) on 13th August at 17:00z. As Dominic is away until the 17th, I guess you'll want the link:

Again, ATC would be much appreciated.

Enjoyed it sitting on Edinburgh Tower!

Both optimists and pessimists contribute to the society. The optimist invents the aeroplane, the pessimist the parachute.

Less than a week to go before Friday 13th August and Leg II! As said above, we will be flying from Edinburgh to East Midlands on an evening (17:00z) flight. Bookings aren't really picking up yet, but we do have 8 so far from Fly UK. We're expecting another 8 independent pilots from elsewhere around the world. As yet, no other VA's have announced they will be flying (hint, please do!)

It looks like the NX boys have booked up TWR and GND, and Vishal has grabbed EGPH_TWR. I think that's all I've got to say. Here's the link to flight information again:

And we hope to see the skies of Scotland and the Midlands light up with traffic on Friday evening!

Sorry to double post but leg III is coming up (Dom, would it be possible to update the top post?)

Leg III - East Midlands to Dublin - 17:00z - 27th August

Expected numbers around 20 pilots, with a max of 30 if there is a big jump overnight. Enroute ATC would be much appreciated. If you aren't controlling, then you are most welcome to join us and give the EGNX controllers a run for their money. See you there!

Thanks to all who flew and controlled at the last event; we hope this will have increased regular traffic levels at EGNX (even if it's only just by 1%). We're getting positive feedback from all pilots at Fly UK.

Next we are flying from Dublin to Belfast:

Leg IV - Dublin to Belfast - 09:30z - Sunday 5th September

Irish ATC is fully organised. I have not yet received confirmation of Belfast Aldergrove ATC from so if someone could please relieve me of my worries, that'd be great

I will be flying and as usual, if you're not controlling, please join us!

See you there!
